Out-of-town Weekend Adventure at Amansinaya Mountain Resort

Ever since I moved in to my new job I no longer had time to do other stuffs like blogging. I even missed a lot of paid blogging work. But I don’t really regret it though because I’m actually enjoying my work and I’m having fun working with my current officemates, as well. Being so MIA in my blog for almost a year, I’ve thought I would never be able to go back into blogging again but I guess I just couldn’t stand not to. I miss blogging so much; thus, I decided to make it a habit now to update my blog every weekend (since that’s the only free time I have unless I need to work overtime).

So, to start my blog for this year I’ll be sharing about my experience from my out-of-town adventure last week at Amansinaya Mountain Resort in Laurel, Batangas. I was with my fiancé and my soon-to-be siblings and cousins then. It was a fun and exciting Saturdate with them.

The resort wasn’t really familiar to me. I haven’t actually heard of it before, not until I saw it in an online deal/discount site which I’d rather not mentioned its site. It was offered for 56% OFF promo for a day-tour package which includes ziplining, mud sliding, trekking at Ambon-Ambon Falls, wall climbing and of course, swimming in their 700sqm pool. Upon reading the description of the resort and seeing its lovely picture in that particular discount site, I got totally amaze and decided to share it to my fiancé and to our cousins by posting its link in our group in Facebook. At first, we were quite hesitant to grab the deal since not one of us knew or have heard of the place. But since the promo was quite affordable for just 299Php/person so we have decided to just grab it anyway. Hehehe!!!

Well, as we have already purchased the deal everyone decided to hold it on weekend to avoid conflict in schedule and so that no one will have to take a 1-day off from work. Then, majority of us voted for Saturday to do this out-of-town bonding so we can still have a long day rest before going back to work.

Since the deal was just for a day-tour package which is between 7am to 5pm, we decided to set our call time between 4:30 to 4:45 the max. So, we could start traveling early and be able to reach the place on or before its opening time; in order for us to enjoy all the perks included in the package. However, since it’s inevitable not to be late; thus, we weren’t able to follow the said call time. Hahaha!! But it’s just a-OK though coz we still arrived in the location early. As we travel to our destination, most of us are asleep including me. I only woke up when we were about 1 town away from Laurel, Batangas. And as I opened my eyes I was awestruck with the beauty of Taal Volcano seeing it almost near. I have been to Tagaytay before but I have never really seen it as closer as this. Then as we enter barangay Poblacion in the town of Laurel, getting to the place had been a bit terrible due to dusty road. Good thing that we have rented an air-conditioned van because if we have just rented an ordinary jeep I could just imagine how dusty our faces will be.

The Amansinaya Mountain Resort is actually located inside Las Haciendas Evergreen Communities. Las Haciendas just from the word itself is a “hacienda” that has a lot of different amenities to offer such as their nice clubhouse where you can actually see from afar the Ambon-Ambon Falls and the mountain/green sceneries surrounding it, their camping site called “Pugad Lawin Adventure Camp” and many more.

Upon entering the said place, I just noticed that the Las Haciendas Evergreen Communities signage looks like needed a little bit of cleaning/maintenance. Hehehe! First thing you’ll see when you entered the hacienda is their camping site then next is their main office/clubhouse which called Patio Filipino.

They mainly entertained their guests in this area and it is where the food is being served as well. It has a nice and clean washroom outside which I haven’t get to take a picture of. At the back area, you will see a single pool big enough for a couple to spend a romantic escapade.

Also, you will see 3 nipa huts that serve as cottages and sets of tables and chairs for 4 underneath a not-so-tall coconut trees and most of all you will be overwhelmed with the beauty of nature as it gives you an overlooking sight of the falls and its green surroundings.

First activities we did were the outdoor activities included in the deal which are located in the Pugad Lawin Adventure Camp. The site is a bit far from the clubhouse but no worries because the resort has a service vehicle which brings their guests to all parts/amenities inside of the hacienda. As we were heading towards the camp, everyone was kind of excited.

We were all teasing each other on who can successfully do the wall climbing thing. Hehehe! We tried the zipline first then followed by wall climbing wherein I was able to climb the top of such a high wall. We were just a bit disappointed with the zipline though because we were actually expecting it to be really high and long but nevertheless we still enjoyed it and had fun.

And the next thing we did was mud sliding. I only tried it once because during my first try, I kind of reached the bottom/water part area a little badly which made lots of water entered my nose and it was damn achy! So, I decided not to give it a try anymore but the rest of my companions’ goodness gracious! They didn’t just do it thrice but 10 times. I guess they’re just enjoying the sliding part that they did not care enough about the part where the water gets to enter in their noses. 0_o Hehehe!!

Trekking to Ambon-Ambon Falls was the last activity before we had our lunch. And since the trek to the falls is actually outside the Hacienda we were again brought by the resort’s service vehicle in the place where we have to start the trek.

It was quite a long trek but we do have a tour guide going to the falls. According to him the trek usually took about 45-minutes one way. But it seems we did it an hour and a half just heading to the falls because we did a lot of picture taking in every place we passed by. Hehehe!

As we were trekking, I was so amazed with the greener surroundings — the trees, the plants and the rice field. I just so love the place. I find it so relaxing to look at.

We're now about to crossed the 4th and final river before heading to the much awaited falls and we were awestruck with the beauty of the seemingly entrance leading to the falls. And of course, I also took a picture pointing at the background/way leading to there. Lovely view, isn’t it?

And finally, we reached the Ambon-Ambon falls that we’ve been anticipating to see. The view is really astoundingly beautiful. I couldn’t even believe seeing it in my own eyes because it’s my first time to really see one.

In all honesty, I never expected that such a nice view exists in this quiet and seems a bit secluded town. :D

Upon reaching the locations of the falls, of course, we didn’t miss the chance to experience going near it. The water is cold.

I guess the reason why the falls was named as that — Ambon-Ambon Falls — because when you go near the falls you can actually feel the water pouring nonstop on you as if it’s a rain pouring down on you.

After a couple of minutes of picture taking and swimming in the falls, we decided to go back to the resort. And if going to the falls took us an hour and a half, well, going back only took us half an hour. I guess it’s because we were done taking pictures of the sceneries and all of us were all damn hungry and a bit tired, as well. Hehehe!!!

The food that we ordered for lunch are: Sinigang na baboy sa sampalok, liempo, fried chicken, crispy pata, rice and a lot of extra riceeeeee :D

In all fairness, all the foods tasted good and we were all satisfied with the taste, the servings and the service of the staffs there particularly the one who mainly entertained us — Mr. Arnel. I remember I’m on a “no rice diet” nowadays but since I was so tired from all those outdoor activities we had and the foods are quite good and tempting, I can’t help myself from eating rice but it’ OK because I have just eaten just 1 order of rice (and it’s true) :D

And I think I just have to mentioned that their water taste like “Pandan”. This is because they really put a pandan-flavor on it. I guess to make it taste like “Palamig” :D Also, upon looking at the picture frames on the walls, I’ve found out that some of our local actors & actresses have been in this place already. I guess it was part of a shooting scene :)

After we had our lunch, we decided to take an hour of rest first before we start swimming. So, we stayed in their nipa hut cottages.

Then, to cap off with our day-tour activity we had our swimming moment in their biggest pool. It’s located in the upper part of the hacienda, so we were brought their by the resort’s service. And here are the pictures of the pool and some of our “kulitan” moments. And 1 of the guest house/air-conditioned room where you can stay overnight. Enjoy viewing!

41st Earth Day is Celebrated by Google with Animated Google Doodle

April 22 is the day that people from around the world celebrate Earth Day. It is being celebrated not just to increase appreciation for our Earth’s natural environment but also to raise awareness for the current happenings; in order to participate in saving our only Mother Earth.

It was first founded as an environment teach-in on April 22, 1970 by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson. It first focused in the U.S., then on 1990 Denis Hayes, (an original national coordinator), took it international wherein he organized events in 141 nations.

Today marks the 41^st celebration of Earth Day and Google celebrate this by featuring an animated Google Doodle on its homepage. The animated Google Doodle of Earth Day’s 41st Anniversary featured 9 different animals such as pandas, penguins, lion, fish, frog, butterfly, koala bear, bird and bear. This year’s theme is about “A Billion Acts of Green”, wherein it encourages people around the world to do a billion separate acts of environmental activities.

Since it’s an animated doodle each animal do different moves whenever you point your mouse cursor in each animal. The fish and the bear are not automatically visible in the homepage, you need to point your mouse cursor at the river so that the fish will come out and jump up until the bear catches it.

Google simply amazed us by their ever impressive and interactive animated Doodles. Great job Google!

Google Doodle Celebrates 119th Anniversary of the First Documented Ice Cream Sundae

Most of us are used to having desserts after finishing the main meal. It seems that even if we are already full; we still crave for something sweet. We either eat cakes, chocolates or ice cream as desserts.
And it’s undeniable that one of the most often eats ice cream desserts of all people of all-time is the ice cream sundae. It is actually next to banana split. Not only young ones love it but also those that are young at heart.

An ice cream sundae contains a scoop of ice cream with syrup on top and an additional topping like cherry, sprinkles, tiny bits of marshmallows and nuts. Original flavor was a vanilla ice cream sundae with flavored sauce, whipped cream and a cherry on top. Nowadays, there are lots of types of sundaes that you can actually buy — there are strawberry sundaes, caramel sundae and so many others — but my favorite would always be the “chocolate sundae”. I ♥ chocolate sundae a lot! ;)

According to the history, there are lots of different states who claims that sundae originated in their place. Safety is a MUST in every Events, Have a Crowd Control NOW

When going to live events like concerts or live action sports, or even in going to a public places like a theater or bar, you would notice that quite a number of people are present especially if it is a well-known event or place.

6th-year Death Anniversary of Our Beloved Catholic Leader Pope John Paul II

Today, 2nd of April 2011 is the 6th year death anniversary of our beloved Pope John Paul II. Pope John Paul II which real name is “Karol Józef Wojtyla” was born on May 18, 1920 in Wadowice, Poland. He was the youngest children of Karol Wojtyla, Sr. and Emilia Kaczorowska. His mother died when he was just eight-year-old and his sister dies before his birth. Their eldest, Edmund, died from scarlet fever. And on 1941, his father died from heart attack, leaving him as the only living member of their family.

After his father’s death, he began thinking about becoming a priest. In 1942, he went to Archbishop’s Palace to inform that he wanted to study priesthood. Then on November 1, 1946, after completing his studies at the seminary, he was ordained as “priest”.

On 8th of September 1958, he became the youngest bishop in Poland at the age of 38. His title was “Bishop of Ombi”. On January 13, 1964, he was appointed as “Archbishop of Krakow”. Three years after, he became promoted to being a Cardinal on June 26, 1967.

On 1978, Karol Wojtyla won in the election of Papacy and he chose the name of “John Paul II” in honour of “Pope John Paul I”, his immediate predecessor.

Famous teachings of Pope John Paul II were:

“The future starts today, not tomorrow.”

and

“As the family goes, so goes the nation and so goes the whole world in which we live.”

When he became pope he was already an avid sportsman and at the age of 58, he was extremely healthy and active. Thus, on 1980 he was labeled as the “keep-fit pope” in an Irish Independent article.

On April 2, 2005 around 3:30 he spoke his last word of “Let me depart to the house of the Father”; then later on fell into comma. He was then later on declared dead around 9:37 due to heart failure at his private apartment.

Pope John Paul II will never be forgotten. He will always be alive in the hearts of those lives that he has touched. He was, still is, and will still remain one of the dearest Catholic leaders of our time.

Google Doodle celebrates 200th Birthday of Robert Bunsen

Today marks the 200th birthday of Robert Wilhelm Eberhard Bunsen. He was a German chemist, who investigated emission spectra of heated elements and invented Bunsen burner.

Robert Bunsen is the youngest son of Christian Bunsen, a chief librarian and a professor of modern philology at the University of Göttingen. He was born on March 31, 1811 in Göttingen’s, Germany.

He became a lecturer at University of Göttingen and at the same time began his experimental studies. He was an outstanding chemist of his time. He developed Bunsen cell battery in 1841.

In 1860 together with Gustav Kirchhoff, a German physicist, they discovered a chemical element in a mineral water in Dürkheim, Germany which is now known as caesium (Cs). A caesium was derived from a “caesius”, a Latin word which means “sky-blue”. They came up with that name due to its bright lines in its emission spectrum.

A year after, they both discovered another chemical element which is rubidium (Rb). It was derived from “rubidius”, a Latin word which means “dark red”. They discovered it in the mineral lepidolite with the used of a spectroscope. It is found in small quantities of tobacco, tea and coffee.

Robert Bunsen is mostly remembered in his Bunsen burner invention. He invented it in 1855 together with Peter Desaga, his laboratory assistant. It is the most commonly used laboratory equipment for heating by generations of schoolchildren during their science lessons.

And since today marks his 200th birthday, Google celebrates it by featuring an animated Google Doodle logo of a gas burner to represent his invention. Happy 200th birthday Sir Robert Bunsen. :)

March 25th celebrates The Feast of the Annunciation and The International Day of the Unborn Child

March 25^th is the celebration in commemorating the “Feast of the Annunciation”. Annunciation means “announcing” and that is why this date was named “Feast of the Annunciation”. This is because, this is the date when our Virgin Mama Mary was visited by Archangel Gabriel to inform her that she would conceive the son of God — Jesus. This is 9-months prior to Christmas — the birthday of Jesus.

Our Mama Mary was first confused on how she will conceive a child when in fact she is still a virgin. Then Angel Gabriel explained to her the power of the Holy Spirit will come upon her. That is why, if you noticed in the “Apostle’s Creed’s Prayer”, it is been said that:

“Jesus Christ, HIS only begotten Son, our Lord was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit; born of the Virgin Mary.”

According to Catholic, this festival celebrates two things: God’s action in entering human world as Jesus in order to save us; and Humanity’s willing acceptance of God’s action in Mary’s freely given acceptance of the task of being Mother of God.

Here in the Philippines, knowing that most of the citizens are Catholics, we similarly celebrate the “International Day of the Unborn Child”.

Google Doodles features 137th Birthday of Harry Houdini Today

While on my way home, I was thinking of searching for some really cute Korean outfit in the net. So, as I got home, I turned on my laptop and open the Firefox window and went to Google home page. Then I noticed that Google used a Google Doodles — a special logo of Google that is usually used to celebrate birthdays, special events and holidays.

Since Google is using their Doodles today that means that they’re featuring someone. I don’t know who was that person is, and so I pointed the cursor of my mouse on the logo and a caption shows and states that it’s Harry Houdini’s 137^th Birthday. So, I decided to feature him here in my blog.

I honestly don’t know him. So in order for me to be able to say something about him, I researched it on the net and found some really interesting facts about this man.

Harry Houdini is a Hungarian-born American and was born under the name of Erich Weisz on March 24, 1874. He is the son of Mayer Samuel Weisz (a religious teacher), and Cecilia Steiner. His mother is just actually the second wife of his father. Although he claimed in his entire life that he was born in Appleton, Wisconsin on April 6, 1874; truth is that he was born in Budapest, Hungary on the date I’ve mentioned above.

He came from a Jewish family and yet ran away from them in 1886 because of some family scandal. His brother, Nathan got married to Sadie and later on got divorce. Two weeks after, his brother’s former wife married again and this time to his other brother, Leopold. And then he adds another scandal by marrying a woman which is out of their religion. He married his wife Wilhelmina “Bess” Rahner, who is a Catholic. They didn’t have any child due to his frequent x-ray exams, which causes his sterilization.

He was 17 then, when he ran away from his family and he pursue on his magic career. He is a very well known magician and escapologist/escape artist. He really perfectly escapes on things/situations that are so freakin’ really impossible for anyone to escape from. He was also an actor, stunt performer and film producer.

He died at the age of 52 on a Halloween (October 31, 1926) at Room 401 in Detroit’s Grace Hospital, Michigan due to appendicitis. Some thought or claimed that he died in his performance because he passed out after J. Gordon Whitehead punched him in the stomach just to test his claim that he can withstand any blows in his body. But truth is Harry Houdini is already suffering from appendicitis few days before his last performance. He was just too plain stubborn for refusing to seek any medical treatment and continue performing, instead. So, when J. Gordon Whitehead repeatedly punched him in his stomach, it seems that it worsened his appendicitis conditions and led to his death.

According to his brother, before he died his last words were, “I’m tired of fighting.”

Reminiscing a Very Unique Black Cemetery Wedding of Jay and Sarah Abad-Contreras

As the month of June is fast approaching, this means that there are probably lots of upcoming weddings too. This is because, this month is said to be traditionally the “wedding month”. But there are also some who says that more numbers of wedding events are being held in December
.

If I were to get married, I would love it to be on June; because June is my bf and I’s anniversary month. So, we both want our wedding to happen on our special day — our anniversary. We actually planned to tie the knot on June 28th, as it is the exact date of our anniversary. But that’s still too soon to come; we still have to really prepare for it more, especially on financial matters…hehe :))

But anyways, since I’ve already mentioned about “wedding”, then let’s talk about the unique and one of the most-talk-about Filipino celebrity wedding of 2009. It’s none other than the “Black Cemetery Wedding of Jay Contreras and Sarah Abad” that happened on February 12th.

Jay Contreras is the singer of the Kamikazee band (which is a Filipino rock band), while Sarah Abad was a former child actress in the local industry and the younger sister of Kaye Abad, one of the original cast of “Ang TV” (a television program in ABS-CBN).

Their wedding looks kinda creepy but is really freaking unique at the same time. Creepy because of the color motif of “Black” and due to its pre-nuptial photos, which were taken in a cemetery in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Knowing that Jay Contreras is a rock singer, that’s why I no longer wonder on why they came up with this kind of theme. The wedding guests and sponsors are dressed in black even the groom; only the bride was dressed in white but still with a touch of black in her wedding dress. The wedding reception has also a Goth-like theme — black, white and red and the wedding ceremony itself was held in Paco Cemetery.

Lots of people including their friends in the industry were shocked about the motif of the wedding. There were some who appreciates it and some who aren’t, because traditionally wedding gowns should be in “white” as a means of “purity and holiness”. As for me, I wanted to walk on the aisle with a white wedding gown, too! But I can’t help not to be amazed with Jay and Sarah Abad-Contreras’ wedding. It’s so unique — it so “them” … a really reflection of themselves.

My New Adidas Shoes

Today is a holiday — end of Ramadan. But I still have work. Because we’re backlog at work — too many workload that needed to be ship by the second week of this month.

So, even if I don’t wanna go to work today … I just can’t. Well, luckily because it’s a double pay … hehe :))

I’m on graveyard/night shift for this whole month. So, my schedule at work is from 10pm till 6am of the following day. And since, I’m on GY, my akachan fetched me in the house around 11:30 am today. Then he brought cookies and First Vita Plus juice for our business. Because mama, will sell those stuffs here in our convenient store and papa will sell some cookies in their office ^_^

I had lunch at akachan’s place. Afterwards, we (akachan, his parents and I) went to First Vita Plus orientation. Because he wants me to know more about the details of the business — particularly with the product and on how am I going to earn with it.

The orientation took about more than an hour. And I could say that it’s quite a great business and really a great product, as well :)

After the orientation, akachan and I went to SM Megamall to have his SUN postpaid line cut and then to go to “2^nd Adidas-Nike Clearance Sale” in SM Megatrade Hall.

Inside the SM Megatrade Hall, there were lots of people buying and looking for stuffs to buy. I was looking for my favorite Purple-colored Adidas jacket and hoping it’ll be included in the sale. But it wasn’t. So, I just roam inside to look for other stuff that I’m going to buy when I saw a kinda “rare’ Star Wars Black Jacket with hood.

I tried the jacket on me and to my disappointment, it doesn’t fit me. It was just a medium size yet it’s too big for me … I guess it’s a bigger medium size. :(

So, I look for a smaller one but found none. And the sales lady told me that that jacket is “ALL OUT” :( How sad! So, I told my bf to try the jacket and whoa! It fits him just enough. ^_^ So, since he’s a Star Wars fanatic, he bought the jacket while I bought a shoes, instead.

Ever since I got paid from my previous Neobux account, I’ve been so addicted in this easy earn money online called “PTC (paid-to-click)”. Just sad though coz my neobux account which paid me $2 was suspended a week after I had my cashout. Reason was due to what they say “MULTIPLE USER/MULTIPLE IP”.

As of now, I already got lots of PROVEN SUREPAYER PTCs but I was only able to make a payment proof from 2 of those proven surepayer PTCs that I have — from Paid to Click and VIPClix.

I went to Prestige Building in Emerald Ave. in Ortigas early this afternoon, just before I went to work. It was raining so hard and I decided to just ride a cab.

When the taxi driver and I was trap in traffic along SM Megamall, I saw this huge tarpaulin for “2^nd Adidas-Nike Clearance Sale” that will be happening next week — from September 10^th till the 12^th.

SEPTEMBER -- Start of the BER Season

It’s already SEPTEMBER 1^st … meaning … it’s already the start of the “BER SEASON” … which also means that the Christmas is just a few more months away. ^_^

And during this season, cold weather is in … which means, time for me to wear my boots once more. Woot woot! I’m oh so excited. Guess I’ll need to buy new sets of clothes and dresses and anime-like socks! Hehe ;))

For sure, as early as this month, Christmas décor and Christmas cards will be out in malls, department store and bookstores. ^_^ And some ideal Christmas gifts will be out, too and in a very affordable price. So, I have to start thinking of what Christmas presents to give for all my godchildren. I think I have like 8 — still not sure though … hehe! (Needs to still check my list of godchildren … haha!)

I left the house 2 1/2 hours earlier for my time at work because I was craving for some beef gyudon of yoshinoya and also because I bought something at Landmark.

And so, after I finished buying personal stuffs in Landmark, I went to the nearest yoshinoya in Makati which is at Park Square 1. And there, I had my beef gyudon lunch … Oh soooo yummy! ;)

Expendables Premier Night

Yesterday, August 12^th, was the premier night of “Expendables” at Robinsons Galleria in Ortigas. It was sponsored by the motorcycle magazine. And my akachan, Sir Jay and Sir Fluffy were 3 of the photographer covering the said event.

So, I was fortunate enough to have a passes/free ticket for this movie. Yey! The free ticket/passes also have 1 free snack — a big size pop corn, a large soda and 1 hotdog sandwich.

Before the start of the movie, there was of course a raffle draw. And there were actually bunch of prizes that had been given away yesterday such as freebies from colt45, watch from unisilver, watch from dickies, T-shirts and jacket from Von Dutch, caps, shoes and so much more. There was also a special prize for the lucky person with a coupon underneath their chairs. But unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get any. Because I was kinda late when I arrived at the cinema due to traffic. Besides, my akachan had informed me late about the said premier night. So, as a result our tickets/raffle entry wasn’t able to include on the draw. But it’s just ok though, after all I came for the movie not for the prizes … hehe! Bitterness?! (doh) **just kidding**

Outside the cinema, there was a huge tarpaulin of expendables with a motorcycle display and another one but is for sale. I was able to have a picture ridin’ the said motorcycle display — pretending as if I really know how to drive one! Haha!

After the movie, there was “Biker’s Night Party’ at Congro Grille in El Pueblo in celebration for the success of the “Expendables” premier night. And since akachan, Sir Jay and Fluffy are the photographers for this night. So, we went there and continue their photo shoots for this event.

I had so much fun last night even if I went home kinda late already. Because after the party, we still had a late night coffee at Starbucks Podium Branch. ^_^ And also because the movie was awesome! The lead casts/actors are all great. Even if Stallone looks really old, he still did great. I like the fight scenes there and I like how Statham threw knife at the enemies. ^_^ And despite of being the smallest guy in the movie, Jet Li did great, too!

Starbucks "Strap to GO" -- My New Mobile Bling bling

Last Saturday I went to my akachan’s place to asked help in creating a banner for my blog. Then I dropped by at Starbucks Lee Gardens Branch at Shaw and bought mocha frap and java chip + ensaymada and banana loaf as pasalubong for nanay and tatay. Then I saw their new “Strap to Go” mobile bling bling. I was about to buy it that day but decided not to.

Then yesterday, during my break time at work, I went down the building and headed to the Starbucks Café there. I bought a snack — mocha frap and banana loaf and I finally bought the mobile bling bling that I saw last Saturday.

The “Strap to GO” is a bit expensive coz it’s 195php and it doesn’t have other designs but it doesn’t matter coz I find it cutie. Hehe :)) As I arrived home, I put it in my mobile phone right away. Here’s the pic of the Starbucks’ “Strap to Go”:

It’s payday today … woot woot ^_^! And also the last day of my 1^st shift at work. Next week will be the start of our rotation and I’ll be on a 2^nd shift which is 2p.m. to 10p.m. And I just so hate that shift! Because of the heat! It just so damn hot going to work in that hour … *sigh*

Well anyways, since it’s payday, Jen (a friend and an officemate of mine) decided to treat ourselves for some snack although we usually eat out after work even if it isn’t payday yet. Hehe! Just to have some bonding together ^_^

We went to Landmark and she bought a new coffee mug. Then after that we had late lunch at the food court of the said mall.

Then as we were walking heading to Ayala to ride a bus going home, we decided to dropped by at The White Hat in Glorietta and have a dessert there.

We both ordered for the big size yogurt. I ordered for extra walnut toppings while she ordered for an extra graham crumbs. Nom nom nom … yummy!

My tito Jun-jun and Tita En-en been boyfriend and girlfriend for so long and they decided to tied the knot last June of 2008. After 2 years of their successful marriage, they are now blessed with a cutie little angel which they named “Leoviguill Jane” or “LJ” for short.

Today, July 25^th, we welcomed baby LJ in the Christian World. The Christening is held at the church near their place, which is St. Jude, Trece Martirez, Cavite.

I was there with my akachan and my mother who stand as one of the “Godmother” of baby LJ. Sad though coz my father wasn’t able to go with us because he have work today.

Most of the visitors are of course our relatives and some are their dealers. Because my tito and tita have a Tiles Store. The reception was held at the back of their tiles store. Here are the pictures from my cousin’s baptismal ;)

It’s Saturday. I supposed to have a work but due to my tardiness last month, I’m on suspension today. Got so bored in the house and decided to go just go to the mall near our place, which is Market-Market in Taguig.

Then I remember, it will be my cousin’s baptismal tomorrow. I was thinking of what to wear for tomorrow. Then I suddenly decided to just enter the department store of that mall and there I saw a simple yet cutie dress.

I grab the dress and also 2 blazers that I’m going to partner for the dress and a step-in. I went to the fitting room and tried it on and whoa! The dress really fits me well ^_^ So decided to took a picture of myself wearing the dress when i was still inside the fitting room … hehe ;)) Then afterwards, went straight to the counter and bought it. ^_^

I arrived at Glorietta around past 6 P.M. and saw lots of people. I got curious on why there were so many people. So, I moved closer to those bunches of people and saw a tarpaulin of Jason Derülo. Only then I remembered that Jason Derulo has a 3-days consecutive mall tour at selected Ayala Malls.

Philippines Won in the Cosplay Meet Asia Competition in Singapore

Yesterday, July 4^th, 2010 was the Final Competition for “Cosplay Meet Asia” in Singapore. We had 3 representatives competing there.

And I’m proud to say that one of our representatives “Jia Bustamante” who portrayed the armored gynoid KOS-MOS from the PlayStation 2 science-fiction role playing game “Xenoga III” won the competition. She had beaten all the international cosplayers. Woohoo!! Congrats Jia and thanks for bringing honors in our country. We, Filipinos, are proud to say that “Sikat ang Pinoy” ;)

Asia Cosplay Meet Philippines 2010

Cosplay which is short for “Costume Roleplay” is such a fad in Japan. But many countries are doing the same nowadays, just like here in the Philippines.

Cosplay is an art of performing in which cosplayers do costumes and accessories to represent a certain character/anime. But here in the country, since we have a big influence of western culture, cosplay here is also consists of different western characters — such as characters from Marvel and the like.

Today, June 27^th, there is an anime event at PTTC (Philippine Trade Training Center) in Pasay City. The Cosplay Event Title is “Asia Cosplay Meet Philippines” which is an international cosplay competition wherein the finals will be held in Singapore next month.

I went to PTTC together with my akachan and his sis Abby to witness the said event and also for akachan to be able to take photos of the cosplayers and also to promote their Studio — Skyefire Studios.

It’s been a month since my akachan bought his “Nikon D90 DSLR”. He bought it before we went to Tayabas and Lucban, Quezon last month. So he could take lots of good pictures during the “Mayohan Feast and Pahiyas Feast”, as well.

I’m glad that he bought it coz now, he already have a sideline — he’s a part-time photographer of Sir Jay a.k.a “Manong Guard” (owner of Skyefire Studio) and the manager in their department at work. :)

So, far he’s already learning of the right way/right angle when taking pictures. And the good thing is that, he shares to me all what he had learned about photography. :)

Huge Sinkhole in Guatemala City

Sinkhole is the natural depression or hole in the surface topography caused by karst processes — the chemical dissolution of carbonate rocks.

Last 31^st of May, a huge sinkhole with a depth of 200-feet was formed in Guatemala City after a heavy rain caused by Tropical Storm Agatha. It actually swallowed a whole high-rise building and a house.

But this isn’t the first time that Guatemala experienced this kind of phenomenon. Way back February 2007, there was also a sinkhole with a depth of 300-feet in which it killed 3 people. It was caused by sewage water dissolving the underlying rock.

This year’s sinkhole has a size of 60-meters deep and 30-meters wide — large enough to actually swallow the Statue of Liberty which is 200-feet deep. And they say, that it could even get bigger. :( But I’m praying it won’t. So, that no more lives will be taken away by that sinkhole and no more damages will be cause.

Tropical Storm Agatha

Tropical Storm Agatha was a weak but catastrophic tropical cyclone that brought widespread floods to much of Central America and was considered the “deadliest tropical cyclone in the eastern Pacific” since Hurricane Pauline. It is also the “first storm of the 2010 Pacific Hurricane Season”.

It developed into a tropical depression on May 29^th and dissipated on May 30^th. It made landfall near the Guatemala-Mexico border on the evening of May 29^th.

Torrential rains brought by Tropical Storm Agatha pounded Central America and Southern Mexico, triggering deadly landslides and in which it resulted to 1 death in Nicaragua; 152 deaths and 100 people still left missing in Guatemala; and 13 deaths in El Salvador.

I supposed to just buy a sanitary napkin and umbrella, but as I was roaming inside the mall I got tempted to purchase other products such as: beauty and hygienic products, belt, Musk by Allysa Ashley lotion and a new dress which I can wear in the office every Fridays or Saturdays (washday) ^_^

I also meet up with my friend and officemate there and I helped her in choosing sandals for her, for her sis and her mom that they’ll be using for her wedding. ^_^ And oh, I’m her bridesmaid — the “Most Gorgeous bridesmaid ever” … LOLz =))

Before we went home, we dropped by at Kenny Rogers at Glorietta and bought whole classic roast for our viand/supper.

Then before going to sleep that night, I checked my paypal account and I found out that my payment from PaidtoClick was already send there. Yey! I was happy coz at least I’ve proven that it wasn’t a SCAM! So, now I already got a 2 surepayer PTC accounts — Neobux and PaidtoClick :D

In PaidtoClick site, all payments are being done automatically every month. As long as the user already accumulate $1 or above, his/her payment will automatically be send to his/her paypal account. But if in case, he/she wasn’t able to accumulate $1 yet during the automatic payment of PaidtoClick, then the earnings will be credited for the next month.

It took about almost a month or I guess more than a month before I accumulated $1 and got my payment. But it’s ok though coz I didn’t actually invest for anything aside from: my time, internet connection and my patience ^_^

Been a blogger member since 2007 but I only started being active November of last year. It took me about 2 years to start blogging … wahaha =)) Reason? Well, because I’m only using desktop pc before and a dial-up connection for internet, which is kinda slow. And I guess another reason is that, I’m just not yet ready blogging then. Hehe =))

Actually, it was my akachan who convince me to start blogging. That’s why I decided to buy a laptop last year. So, I could blog wherever I am (as long as I’m not busy, of course ^_^)

Got My Hair Rebonded

Last Friday (May 21^st), I wasn’t able to go to work. Because my head really hurts so badly! So, I decided to just stay in the house and have more rest even if it’s actually equivalent to a “1 day without pay” to me, for I no longer have an SL. Huhu T_T. Actually, I still have but only .5 (half-day) :D

Coincidentally, my friend (which is a fellow blogger and an officemate of mine), also wasn’t able to go to work. We’ve been planning to have our hair done in a salon just before her wedding day, which will already be next month. So, when she found out that I wasn’t able to go to work, too. She texted me in the afternoon, checking if I’m already feeling ok.

And since my headache disappeared, we went to mall late afternoon. Actually I supposed to have my hair permed/curled — just like Leighton Meester’s hair, (the Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl). But my god!, when we inquired for the price … it was sooooo expensive!

My friend already settled at Index salon but I still continue inquiring at different salons in 2 different malls — Podium and SM Megamall. Hehe! =)

With my hair length, the cheapest price of digital perm is already P5,000.00 at Bench Fix Saloon. I went to other salon and the prices are even higher. At Vivere Salon, my hair already cost P9,000.00 for a digital perm, P7,000.00 at David’s For Revere, P8,500.00 at Ricky Reyes Salon. My God! With those prices, I could already buy 2 sets of office attire/clothes plus a bag and partner shoes/sandals. *deep.sigh*

So, as a result, I ended up having my hair rebonded instead. And the final destination was at David’s Salon at Star Mall, Mandaluyong City. Because they have a promo which only cost P2,500. ^_^ Yiii! Here’s my picture, taken 2 days after my hair rebond. It was taken by my akachan after we dined at McDonalds El Pueblo … just got a little too delayed for me to post this article. Because I only find time today, always busy :D

McDonalds Limited Edition "SHREK" Toy Collection (Set 1)

McDonald’s is joining in the celebration of the “Shrek Festival”, in which you can avail the Shrek Toys every time you buy a “HAPPY MEAL”. The promo had started last May 1^st and is good till June 10^th

It actually has 2 sets. My akachan (bf) and I already completed the 2 sets of Shrek Happy Meal Toys. But he hasn’t taken photos of the 2^nd set yet. So, I’m just going to post the 1^st set for now — and oh, I’d like to give all credits to him (my akachan) for all these photos. Good shot, akachan! Nice job. I love you! ^_^

I think the movie “Shrek Forever After” also known as “Shrek: The Final Chapter” is already out in all cinemas here in the Philippines. The first regular showing was May 20^th (if I’m not mistaken). Looking forward to watching the movie with akachan on weekend.

Lately I’ve been thinking of what BEST SIDELINE to have. Because honestly my salary isn’t enough (haha!)

When I was able to “CASHOUT” $2 from my NEOBUX account, it made me want to sign up for more PTC sites. Now, I got TONS of online sideline (ptc sites) hehe =)). At first, I really thought it was a SCAM but when I got the payment in my Paypal Account, it tender my belief that “IT TRUEly PAYS … hehe!

But sad though, coz a day after I was able to cashout my $2.020 from Neobux, it was suddenly been suspended. For the reason of “MULTIPLE IP. According to the note “I VIOLATED THEIR TOS (tem of service) that: ‘ONLY ONE COMPUTER per ACCOUNT’ ”; in which I honestly DIDN’T! It just so happened that I’m using SMARTBRO broadband which I think makes it so-called “Shared IP”. Because I think ALL BROADBAND shared IP per site/location … huhuhu T_T. Now, I have to wait a couple of months in order to register for a new account. Because they don’t accept my OLD paypal … huhu!

Glad that I have my akachan to give me encouragement … hehe! Because I got sooooo sad that my Neobux has been suspended. My akachan (bf) just told me to just concentrate on my other PTC sites and to just try to register in Neobux next time!

2010 Local Election Winners in Makati

Been almost two weeks that I’ve been MIA (Missing In Action) here in my blog. Well, that’s because I got sooooo damn busy with so many things — work, Quezon Province vacay and maintaining my PTC SIDELINEs and more workkkkkkkk! *deep.sigh*. Luckily coz I find time to update my blog today. Yey! ^_^

Well, anyways just to update ’bout last election, here are the winners in local election in our place in Makati City.

As expected the “BINAY” clan still reigns in our place — Both the son and the daughter of now leading Vice Presidentiable Jejomar Binay won! — a TRUE EXAMPLE of “POLITICAL DYNASTY” … wahaha =)) Hmn … why don’t they just give others a chance? Is it because they think “THEY REALLY OWN the City of Makati and all its residents”? Or is’t because “they just DON’T want to lose the power and the money they’re getting?” (Just a thought though … wahaha!)

To be honest, I didn’t really vote for his son Erwin “Jun-jun” Binay because of some reasons such as: first, I never really know him that much (haha!). Because he’s from District 1 and I’m from District 2. Another reason is because; I wanted to at least have a NEW leader that will manage our city. Coz it’s like “nakakasawa na” (sick and tired) of having the same leader since I grew up in here in this place.

And actually, I didn’t even vote for his dad, too (the elder Binay). Reason is just simple: “I just don’t find him ‘A man with HONOR’.” I say this because, way back a year or so (I guess), former-mayor Jojo Binay already announced that his then Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado will be his mayoral candidate for this year’s election. He even asked us — his constituents (residents of Makati), to support Mercado for mayoral position. And yet, he didn’t keep his words and let his son run for mayoral position instead — and that’s just because his wife “former mayor Elenita Binay” say so! I’m not really that 100% sure that just because his wife told him so, that’s why he didn’t keep his words. But if it’s really true then, well…

But in fairness to the “BINAY” clan, I salute them for making our city the “BUSINESS CAPITAL” of our country. And I must say that all opportunities and most of the known/big companies are indeed here in Makati.

And also, I salute them for providing primary necessities of students in public schools. Such as providing school supplies (notebooks, pad papers, ballpen, pencil, bag), fabric (“tela”) for the student’ uniform. Also for providing low and discounted fee in Makati University especially if the student is resident of the city.

But regarding to what the elder Binay said during the vice presidentiable debates in La Consolacion that has been aired in ABS-CBN about having 1:1 ratio of computer per students in school … well, honestly that’s just not the case. It might perhaps in private schools but in public, IT ISN’T. I did graduated elementary and secondary year in a public school in our city and I MUST SAY that there were not enough supplies of computers for the students.

When my 2 cousins (on my mother’s side) were still living with us, we send them to public school as well. And they didn’t really experience the so-called “1:1 ratio of computer per student”. In fact, their teachers just scheduled their class on who will use the computer during the computer class and on when. I don’t know if the “1:1” ratio is already applicable in high school. Because during my high school days, it wasn’t the case “YET”. With regards to college students in Makati, I just couldn’t say if they already experienced that so-called ratio because I already studied and graduated in a private school in other city. (hehe!)

And I also have some observation regarding the give away cakes for seniors during their birthdays. I think the one/person assigned for that task got a lot of kickback (haha!) Because I heard, the budget for the cake is P2,000.00 and yet when you see the cake … *sigh* it isn’t branded, it’s like a cake bought from a bakery … wahaha! And the flavor was just “MOCHA” not even “CHOCOLATE”. I say this because, I was able to have a taste of it during nai (my lola ina)’s bday.

Well, anyways, enough of this. I don’t really have any untoward things/bitterness for the Binay clan, I am just stating my observation. So, “no offense to the Binay clan and all its avid supporters” — I don’t intend to provoke war with you guys (hehe!) As what I’ve said, “I’m only stating what I’ve observed or my opinion.” After all, we’re in a democratic country — “we’re entitled for each other’s opinion and we’re “FREE TO SPEAK WHAT’S ON OUR MIIND”.

Today is the “BIG DAY”. Because, this is the day wherein there’ll be a “CHANGE” of governance in our country (well HOPEFULLY there will be ^_^)

So, since today is the most awaited “Philippine 2010 Election”, I went early in the morning (around 5 minutes before 7 o’clock in the morning) at Cembo Elementary School, (the school where I will cast my vote) and also the same school where I graduated elementary. ^_^

As I arrived there, there were already lots of people falling in line in their designated Precinct Rooms. I was hoping that since it’s already an “AUTOMATED VOTING SYSTEM”, lines will be faster and much shorter compared to the previous elections that we had. But I was so wrong. Because even if our voting system is already automated but still sad to say that “it’s sort of unorganized”.

Voters outside every precinct rooms are squeezing like sardines on the narrow-spaced hallway of the building. As a result, you could smell lots of different kinds of odors from perfume and sweat of those voters. (eeeeew!) And it makes the ambience even hotter :(

I’m already on the 67^th line when I got to my precinct room. I waited for about an hour and a half (I guess) before I was finally able to get inside the room, cast my vote and got my ballot successfully registered in the PCOS (Precinct Count Optical Scan) machine.

Before I finally submitted/entered my ballot in the PCOS, I whisper a short “prayer” to myself that “hopefully, this election will turn out successfully and that ONLY DESERVING PEOPLE will get elected on their designated positions” … I just hope that my simple prayers will be granted *I’m crossing my fingers* ^_^

Happy Mother's Day Mama and Nanay

Mother’s day is celebrated every month of May. Usually, it is celebrated on the 2^nd Sunday of this month.

Mother’s Day celebration is done to honor all the mothers out there and to express gratitude for all their hardships in bringing up their child. So, today I was actually able to celebrate Mother’s Day with my akachan (bf) and his family because I slept there the night before. When I woke up, Nanay (my nanay-to-be) had cooked carbonarra and champorado (hmn — yumyum!) She also cooked afritada. But I only ate champorado and carbonarra before I head home.

When I got home, my mother was asleep in our sofa and my father is watching TV. I kissed my father good morning and head straight to my room to get my towel and take a bath because I’ll be treating my parents out for lunch.

My mother woke up just before I even wake her up. I kissed her and greeted her “Happy Mother’s Day” and asked her to take a bath because we’ll be going to Mall — either at Market-Market, Taguig or SM Moa — depends on her.

But to my dismay, she acted kinda weird as if she’s a little child having tantrums. :( She had an “S” (‘sumpong’ or mood-swing) … I guess it was because I wasn’t home when she woke up.

So, since she had an “S”, I just met my akachan and went to church before we bought foods for Mama. :) Since it’s already dinner time, so, we just bought Andok’s (combination of Super half Chicken and half Liempo), Soda and her favorite flavored ice cream — Chocolate Almond Fudge. Actually, she likes any flavor of ice cream as long as it has almonds in it. =)

I thought my mother will let the day end without talking to me. But luckily, just before the clock hits 10, she did talk to me and we’re already OK. So, I greeted her and told her that “I LOVE HER” and apologized for keeping her wait for me and lastly, KISS her.

Philippine 2010 Election -- VOTE WISELY!

Two more days to go and it will be the 2010 Election here in the Philippines (both for National and Local).

With the current standing of our country and with all the things that we had encountered — both in the past and in the present … I hope that everyone will be wiser now, in choosing the “BEST” candidate to elect in a certain position especially to the highest position of all — the “PRESIDENTIAL” position.

Let us all not be naïve anymore. Because “SURELY” all candidates will uplift themselves and will “GIVES US PROMISES” of what they so-called “PLAN/AIM” to do for our country and for “US” (the citizens of our country) … and yet, when they already got elected and got the position they desired, little by little they forget “ALL WHAT THEY HAVE PROMISED TO US DURING THEIR CAMPAIGNS”, which seems as if “THEY SUDDENLY GOT AN AMNESIA!” wahaha =))

And not only that, “SOME f*****G GREEDY candidates” even do “VOTE BUYING”, just in order for them “NOT TO LOSE” the titles or “POLITICAL DYNASTY” that they’re experiencing. They don’t really care for us and to our country, they only want to make themselves wealthier by of course, “CORRUPTING” funds that are supposed for the “US” — the citizens. It really sad though, but it’s the reality! :(

So, on May 10^th Let us NOT BE DOMINATED by others on WHO TO VOTE. Because there are religious groups who of course, mandate their followers to “ALL” vote for a certain candidates which is their “LEADER’s CHOICE!”… Just REMEMBER that “WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE”. =)

And if you’ve been given money (thru VOTE BUYING), well, just ACCEPT the money but STILL VOTE for the person that “YOU THINK DESERVES TO BE ELECTED” — in short, “LET US ALL VOTE WISELY” and hopefully … “PEACEFULLY”. =)

6.4-magnitude Earthquake rattled Southern Peru

It seems that nowadays, earthquakes are occurring almost everywhere. Perhaps it is because of the climate change, that’s why our environment/mother earth is acting kinda weird now.

Last night, May 6^th, Southern Peru (near the Chilean border) was hit by a 6.4-magnitude earthquake around 9:42 P.M. local time.

According to the USGS (United States Global Survey), the epicenter of the earthquake was 25km (15 miles) west of Tacna at a depth of 11km (6.8 miles).

A radio station RPP said that the quake toppled electricity in Tacna which caused the city to be blackout or without power. And since Tacna is near Peru’s border with Chile, the quake was also felt in northern Chile and there were also some reports of telephone and power outages in the port of Arica. But thankfully, there were no reports of serious damage and there was no report of possible ‘tsunami’.

A Cutie Souvenir from My Akachan

My akachan went to Puerto Galera and stayed there for 3-days and 2-nights for their company’s team building (IT Department).

They had lots of activities — snorkeling, eating, drinking, tattooing, then eating and drinking, and eating and drinking again … wahaha!!! LOLz =)) Actually, I don’t know what other activities they had. That’s all he told me (Perhaps ‘Girl HUNTIN’’) LOLz =))

He went home Sunday evening and of course, we met in SM Megamall. Because we sooooo misssssssed each other! ^_^ He bought me a souvenir — a Puerto Galera T-shirt and a ‘cutie bracelet with our call of endearment (“akachan”), written on it’. And take note, he was the one who wrote it. Because according to him, he likes it to be special and because the seller actually has ugly handwriting … wahaha, so mean!

Well, I do appreciate the bracelet a lot! In fact, as he gave it to me, I let him put it on my hands :) *Thanks akachan for the souvenir and I LOVE YOU MUCH MUCH!*

Nanay's Pre-Bday Celebration

Today, May 4^th is “Nanay’s 53^rd Bday” (my soon-to-be-mother-in-law), but we celebrated it yesterday though. Because Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo moved May 1^st (“Labor Day”) on that day and declared it as “Legal Holiday”.

She did it in order to be fair to all government employees. Because it so happened that the Labor Day falls on Saturday wherein it’s a no-working day for government employees. But if I were to be asked, it seems like she’s so fond of moving “HOLIDAYS” to other dates and “NOT REALLY FOLLOWING ON THE ‘TRADITIONAL’ SCHEDULE OF HOLIDAYS”! wahaha!

Well, anyways, going back to “Nanay’s Pre-Birthday Celebration” … we had so much fun! Almost all relatives are present and we (the family) are complete — Tatay, Abby (the youngest), Amiel and Ria (his gf), and Leo (my bf) and I are all present in this event! =)

There were lots of foods — both given by us and nanay’s self-own cooked foods. There was also ‘Tarpaulin Greetings’ for nanay with her pictures and our pictures on it :D And of course, it was made by my very own akachan (bf) ^_^

Everyone was soooo full, including me. (hehehe!) Then around 5 o’clock in the afternoon, akachan and I went to Carlo’s place (our barkada in his side) to meet up with some of our barkadas. We were glad to see Tito Rod there. Because his quite busy in his work nowadays and he’s often absent to our previous gatherings there. Then before we left, Tito Rod and his family let us have dinner in their place first. (Hmn … foods again! Yumyum!)

Then on the night as we went back to akachan’s place, there was also a drinking sessions for boys (including Amiel, Akachan and some of our cousins). Then during the drinking session, we all “FINALIZED our TAYABAS ESCAPADE” which will already be next week ^_^ Lots of activities are already lined-up — going to grotto, ‘mayuhan’, ‘pahiyas’ and more. I’m already excited!

Mayweather Won Over Mosley

Finally, I’m back! It’s been almost a week that I haven’t really checked on my blog &meaning: my blog is already about a week out-dated … wahaha!

So, since now that I’m back (glad to be back … hahaha), I’ll be featuring here the fight of Mosley vs. Mayweather that had just finished today. Actually, I wasn’t able to watch the fight right from the start. Because I woke up late (as usual! Wahaha!!!)

When I woke up, I saw my father watching Mosley vs. Mayweather fight at GMA-7. It’s already end of 3^rd round when I woke up. So, since wasn’t able to really watched it from the beginning, I didn’t really know who leads. I then asked my father and he answered me, “It’s Mosley who leads for previous 2 rounds” … and I said, “Hope Gayweather — I mean ‘Mayweather’ wins the fight”. He then asked me, “why?” and I replied, “Because I wanna see our very own “Pacquiao” beats his ass!” Because he’s soooo arrogant and the nerve of him to throw false accusations to our “Pambansang Kamao!” … (If I know, he’s just so scared to death to fight Pacquiao! Hehehe!) =))

The “Mosley vs. Mayweather fight” is done at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. I waited for the fight to end before I started my chores in the house.

Mayweather was almost knocked out by a right hand in the second round but rebounded to dominate Mosley the rest of the rounds. And when the 12 rounds end, he was announced as winner by unanimous decisions.

After the fight, there was an interview with him on the ring. And when he was asked about “Pacquiao”, this is what he responded:

“If Pacquiao wants to fight me, ‘I’m not that hard to find’. We tried to make it happen, it didn’t work and we moved on. Mosley is a warrior and he did what I asked him to do. ‘If every athlete in this sport is clean, they should be willing to take the test.’ If Manny takes the test ‘WE CAN make it happen … If he doesn’t, WE DON’T HAVE A FIGHT!’ ”

See?! This man really has so much arrogance in him! Tsk tsk tsk!!!

Avoid electrical overloading.
Unplug all electrical appliances after every use.
Check all electrical installations regularly.
Check gas stoves and LPG tanks for leaks.
Keep children away from flammable liquids, lighters and matches.
Avoid smoking in bed.
Ensure you have a pre-fire plan at your residence or office.
Do not leave lighted mosquito coils unattended.
Always take extra precautions while cooking.
Never leave lighted candles unattended.
Do not throw lighted cigar or cigarette butts on dried leaves and garbage.
Strictly obey the no smoking signs.

What to do During Fire

Every year lots of fire incidents is happening in and out of the country especially during hot seasons. Fires are very dangerous because:

It spread quickly
The heat from the fire can be badly
It’s difficult to see because of the smoke from the fire
Breathing smoke gases from fire can also be deadly

So be prepared! Because it can happen anywhere, whether you’re in your house, in the office, in a mall and so on. It can even start in many ways.

Below are some of the following “TIPS on WHAT TO DO DURING FIRE”:

When you’re in a building (such as offices, malls etc.), make sure to know where the “FIRE EXIT” is located.
Use a fire extinguisher to put out small fires. You can also use water if the fire is not electrical or chemical. Do NOT try to put out a fire that you can’t control.
If there’s a fire that is too big to put out, leave the place immediately. Because you might not have the chance to call for a fire department.
If you can see smoke in the house, stay low to the ground as you make your way to the exit.
Do not run, if your clothes catches fire but “Stop Drop and Roll” instead.
When you’re trap in a room, do the following:
1. Check to see if there’s heat or smoke coming in the cracks around the door.
2. Don’t open the door when you the smoke coming under the door.
3. Touch the door if you don’t see the smoke. If it’s hot or very warm then don’t open it.
4. If you don’t see smoke and the door isn’t hot, then slightly use your fingers to lightly touch the doorknob. If it’s hot, don’t open it.
5. If the doorknob feels cool and you don’t see any smoke around, only then you can open the door slowly and carefully.
6. When you open the door and you feel a burst of heat or see smoke pours into the room, quickly close the door and make sure it is really really closed..
7. If there’s no smoke or heat when you open the door, quickly make your way out.
8. Yell for help.

Edsa Shangri-La Plaza Mall still 'CLOSED'

As we (akachan & I), passed by at Edsa Shangri-La Plaza Mall on our way to St. Francis Church, we saw that up until today, April 25^th, it is still close for public due to the fire that broke out in the basement stockroom of Rustan’s Supermarket in Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong City around half past 10 in the evening last April 23^rd (Friday).

It had been reportedly reached 3^rd alarm, prompting the mall staffers to evacuate all tenants and moviegoers. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) of Mandaluyong Cityplaced the damage of the said fire incident at P2-million which is said consisted mostly of grocery items.

Firefighter had a hard time penetrating the inner part of the storage room due to the thick smoke. So, it took them five hours to put the fire really under control and another hour to finally douse it at around 4:30 in the morning.

And oh, this afternoon, another fire occurred but this time in a residential area in QC.

This afternoon, my akachan (bf) together with our friend (Max) had some meeting/bonding together. We had our lunch at McDo El Pueblo. Then we went to St. Francis Square to discuss something. After an hour or so, we parted ways with Max and had some mall-hopping — from St. Francis Square to Robinson’s Galleria, to Podium then to SM Megamall, (for our last destination).

We were done mall-hopping around past 3 PM and decided to went to their house to rest for awhile then watch TV and surf net while waiting for the Sunday Mass schedule at St. Francis Church.

When we arrived in their place, we went straight to their 3^rd floor to start surfing net. It is there, where we usually do net surfing whenever we’re in their place. Because it’s more relaxing there and also a nice view for sunset. You can also see from there lots of building along Shaw and Boni, and then QC and Sta Mesa. And from afar, you can see some of the mountains in Antipolo (but of course, kinda blurred because it’s quite far from their place) :) Their 3^rd is really the nice place in their house. They even call it as their very own “the-overlooking”. Hehehe! =))

So, when we were already in the 3^rd floor, we was shock to see dark smokes from afar. From that dark smokes, we knew it was fire but we just didn’t know the location. We first assumed it was either in Sta Mesa or San Juan.

But when I watched the news this evening, I found out that it was actually in QC — a residential area along E. Rodriguez. The video clips of the fire is shown below: (I got this from gmanews.tv)

Based on the above news, they didn’t know the estimate number of victims yet, but there’s already an update about the fire which I got also from GMA News website.

According to their website, the fire started around 3 o’clock in the afternoon, leaving hundreds of families loses their homes, at least 200 houses were burned down and at least 1 firefighter reportedly sustained injuries while battling the blaze even.

The fire was said to occur hours after fire volunteers held an Olympics-like event in Southern Metro Manila to enhance their skills in firefighting.

We didn’t know how long the fire lasted. Because as I remembered akachan and I stayed in their place for about an hour and a half (I guess) and the dark smoke hasn’t been over yet. I felt sad for those victims of the said fire incidents. Because it’s really devastating when you encountered “fire”. Other even says:

“Mas mabuti ng ‘Bahain’ kesa masunugan. Kasi sa baha may matitira at maisasalba pang gamit pero sa sunog wala!”.

And oh, last Friday there was also fire in Edsa Shangri-La Plaza Mall. Tsk tsk tsk … lots of fire incidents already happening everywhere. So, it’s BEST that people be aware on how to prevent fire and even what to do during fire.

Sisterhood Award that I got

It’s been like 2 days since I last updated my blog. Got no time to check on my blog because I needed to sleep early to attend to some important appointment (naks!) ^_^

When I was checking on my email add, I saw tons of email confirmation of all the comments for my blog that I needed to publish. But before I publish all of those, I made a new article to post first, which is about “Jennifer Lopez getting awarded with ‘Style of the Decade’ by the ‘US Weekly Magazine’ ”.

Then when I already published all those comments and started to make my responses, I found out that last 23^rd of April (that was Friday), one of my blogger friends — Ria GeSilva of ‘Ria’s World’ — had awarded me with a cutie “Sisterhood Award”. It suddenly reminded me of the movie that I’ve watched entitled “The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants” … LOLz =))

Earth Day 2010 in the Philippines

Today, April 22^nd (Thursday) is a day to celebrate “Earth Day” and it’s on its 40^th anniversary already … yey! :)

“Earth Day” is a yearly event designed to spread awareness about our Earth’s environment and encourage “ALL OF US” to “TAKE ACTIONS”, as well. It was founded as an “environmental teach-in” on the 22^nd of April 1970 by US Senator Gaylord Nelson.

In celebration for this, lots of “Earth Day Events” (such as conferences, free concerts and the like), are being held in different countries. Here in the Philippines, we also have lots of different events being held nationwide. Some of these are the listed below:

We all know that our environment is acting kinda weird nowadays — volcanoes in some places are getting active again, earthquakes are happening almost everywhere, glaciers in foreign countries are melting rapidly, summer days are sooooo much hotteeeerrrr than usual!, while rainy days are drowning places we never imagined it could. That’s why lots of advocacy projects and advertisement are being shown worldwide, in order to raise awareness to people about the problem we’re all facing right now and as well as to encourage everyone to take actions regarding it!

They say that “ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY IS EVERYONE’S RESPONSIBILITY”. ^_^ So below are some “EASY and SIMPLE TIPS on how to help SAVE our PLANET EARTH”:

Plant a herb garden on your balcony

…that if incase you lack outdoor space
Choose Greener/Solar Power

…use “Solar Energy Technologies/Material” such as “chargers that uses solar power”
Measure Your Miles

…when going to a short distant places, try riding a bike or walking instead of using your wheels. In this case, you will not only prevent pollution but you can also save money on your side ^_^
Use the Stairs instead of the Elevators

…this is applicable only when you’re going to 5^th–10^th-storey building. With this, you will not only save energy but it’s also a means of exercise to keep you fit. Actually, I used to do this in the office last year. Our office is located at the 10^th floor of Insular Life Building in Makati and whenever I go home from work, I always used stairs in going down the building instead of the elevator. But then later on I stopped. Because I no longer have companion going downstairs and beside, I’m on a 2^nd shift schedule at work which starts at 2pm till 10pm. So using the stairs alone at 10 in the evening kinda scares the hell out of me…hehehe! =))

Pollute Less

…by using a “Clean Diesel”
Conserve Water

…when you see a leak in your faucets, fix it right away. If you’re rich and you always used a bathtub in taking a bath, then now is the time for you to take a 5-10minutes shower instead. Because, I’ve heard that a bathtub requires 70-gallon of water!
Go Paperless

…sign up in “e-Statement” for your credit card billing statement/SOA (statement of account) in order to avoid using papers to deliver your SOA and also to avoid delay in delivering the SOA. Because some banks sometimes don’t deliver the SOA on time, just like what my akachan (bf) experienced in his credit card ^_^
Go Green

…when shopping or buying groceries, it’s better if you bring a cloth bag with you that can be used to placed all the grocery items that you bought, instead of using the usual “Plastic Bags” in the Grocery Stores. I believe some malls here in the Philippines are already practicing that — using Cloth Bag instead of the Plastic Bags, like in SM Malls. But I think, you need to buy the cloth bag of course.
E-cycle

…sell your out-dated or no longer functioning gadgets at www.YouRenew.com. You will not only earn cash but you also help recycle those electronics materials.
Change a Light Bulb

…replace your incandescent fluorescent with compact fluorescent light bulb, because it is 75% less energy and also lasts 10 times longer
Un-plug Electronic materials/Appliances when not in use

…unplugging appliances when not in used especially if leaving the house not only saves energy but also prevent fire especially during hot season
Watch your Shopping

…as much as possible when buying appliances, buy items with the Energy Star label (a label that indicates a model that has met minimum federal energy efficiency standards)
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

…separate biodegradable from non-biodegradable and recyclable from non-recyclable materials

California Academy of Sciences

I’m already 25 years old now, but I still kiss my parents on the cheek whenever I arrived home (from work or from somewhere), before leaving the house, after making “mano” (sorry but I don’t know the English term for that..wahaha!), and even kiss them goodnight before going to bed. I don’t feel ashamed on doing that even in public areas like malls and the like. Because I was actually raised that way and it’s like my way of showing them my affection. ^_^

I was already in my room checking on my social networking accounts and thinking of what new article to post here in my blog, when I remember that I haven’t kiss my parents goodnight yet. So, I’ve stopped from what I’m doing and head on downstairs to kiss them. ^_^

Then I saw my parents watching National Geographic Channel. It’s kinda weird coz I’m not actually used to seeing them watching that channel especially my father. Because what he mostly watches are local and international news channel, sports channel, movies in HBO, Star Movies etc, Sci-Fi channel, Living Asia channel and kickboxing. So seeing my father watching NatGeo for 2 consecutive days is kinda new to me. Hehehe! ^_^ But I’m glad though. Because at least he’s watching a program with sense. =))

Tonight’s episode at NatGeo caught my attention. Wasn’t able to really watch it from the start though. But I was still amazed and decided to feature it here in my blog! The episode was about the “California Academy of Sciences”.

California Academy of Sciences began way back 1853 and “is one of the 10 largest museum of natural history in the world”. It is located in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA and was remodeled 2 years ago (September 27, 2008).

It began as a learned society and still carries out a large amount of original research, with exhibits and education becoming significant efforts in the 20^th century. Their newly remodeled building is said to be the largest Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified green building in US by using Solar energy.

The building’s sustainable features are designed by architect Renzo Piano while Adam Brodsley and Eric Heiman are the people who designed the inside of the building in bringing the museum’s exhibits to life while following to the dramatic, ultra-green architectural design presented by Piano.

The California Academy of Sciences has several venues such as:

Steinhart Aquarium

…38,000 live animals from around the world, representing more than 900 separate species. Come nose-to-beak with an African penguin, watch sharks and stingrays cruise beneath your feet, check out the set of teeth on a piranha, and learn about the critical, life-sustaining role that water plays on Earth.

…is home to some new feathered residents — a Barn Owl, a Swainson’s Hawk, and a Turkey Vulture.

The building also houses the Academy Science Labs and administrative offices, including an extensive library and scientific archive consisting of more than 26 million specimens. All of these offerings are under a “living” roof. 1.7 million plant specimens make up the 2.5 acre living roof making it yet another for the Academy’s attractions. Besides the thousands of plants and animals the California Academy of Sciences has incorporated innovative audio visual elements into their exhibits.

The Academy uses two Listen Technologies solutions. One is the “tour group system” for their docent led tours. The three different kinds of tours that they offer as a unique Academy experience are the following:

Wine and Dine Tour

As a public facility, it meets the “Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)” guidelines for accommodating the hearing impaired with Listen’s assistive listening systems. In the auditoriums the Academy uses the assistive listening systems with the LT-800 stationary transmitter. The stationary transmitters easily interface with the wireless microphone systems in place throughout the Academy. Assistive Listening systems are offered in the following exhibits:

Earth Run 2010 @ The Fort, Taguig

Earth Day is on the 22^nd of April but there are already lots of Earth Run events being held today — April 18. Two of these, are the “NatGeo Earth Run” and “Earth Run 2010 at The Fort Taguig”.

This Earth Run 2010 at The Fort is proudly brought by ETC, 2^nd Avenue, Jack TV, Hallmark Channel and Sci-Fi Channel. It will be held today (April 18^th), at Global City, Taguig. This Earth Run is presented by Cherifer and in cooperation with Boysen Knoxout Air Cleaning Paint.

The starting line will be at the 28^th Street Global City, Taguig, near Honda. Assembly time will be later around 4 o’clock in the morning and start time will be: 5:00am for the 21K race, 5:30am for 16K race, 6:00am for 5K race and 6:05am for the 3K race.

Both the 3K and 5K race will take route inside the Fort area while both the 16K and 21K race will travel the route of Buendia flyover and then back to The Fort.

The registration for this fun run at The Fort is quite cheaper compared to the one that National Geographic have. And based on what I have searched on the Net, for a registration of only P250.00, runner/participant will have an “Earth Run 2010 Singlet”. And perhaps more freebies will be given away after the race in courtesy of Solar Entertainment. That’s nice to hear! ^_^

National Geographic's Earth Day Run 2010

It’s been awhile since I last updated my blog coz I just had a lot of things to do this past of couple of days. Well, anyways, I’m back ^_^ (yey!) and I would like to feature here the “National Geographic Channel’s Earth Day Run 2010”.

Last night when I got home from work, I saw my father watching NatGeo Channel. I don’t know the title of the episode/program he’s watching but it’s about car racing on ice. Then during the commercial, I saw this advertisement of NatGeo ’bout their participation for the Earth Day and so I decided to feature it here. I supposed to post it here right after I saw that TV commercial but I got so busy downloading apps and games for my iPod Touch. Hehehe! ;))

Well, anyways, in celebration of the upcoming “Earth Day’s 40^th anniversary on April 22^nd, National Geographic Channel will be having a fun run entitled “NatGeo Earth Day Run 2010” which will be held at SM Mall of Asia (MOA) on the 18^th of April, which will be tomorrow already. =)

The said fun run is open to all interested runners who are willing to participate in 3K, 5K, or 10K races. It will start at around 5:30 in the morning.

Because of the damages the Typhoon Ketsana (locally known as “Ondoy”) brought in our country last year then all proceeds of the said fun run will go to the “Design Against the Elements (DAtE)” — an art competition project to rebuild climate resilient communities designed for a greener environment. The DAtE is a project of “MyShelter Foundation”.

Through this fun run, National Geographic’s Channel aims to promote Earth Day and its global mission to inspire people to care about our planet. ^_^ So for those runners and non-runners who would like to participate in this event, I hope you were all able to register already. I’m sure this will be fun! :)

And oh, before I forget, there’s also another fun run event that will be happening on the same day and it will be at ”The Fort, Taguig”.

Robert Pattinson's Wax Figure is Already Out in Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum

While browsing in the Net ’bout the latest sequel of the movie Twilight which is “Eclipse”, I found out that its lead star — the one who played Edward Cullen — has a really good news to all his fans…and it’s his “Wax Figure”.

Yes! You all read it right! The 23-year-old Twilight lead star, Robert Thomas Pattinson has now a Wax Figure like other celebrities and famous people. ^_^ And to take note, according to the site that I visited regarding this topic, his wax figure is even more famous than President Obama. Because during the unveiling of his wax figure at “Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum” at Times Square in New York last March 25, more fans had lined-up to his statue than to President Obama and Queen Elizabeth combined. Whoa! I couldn’t believe this! Is he really that famous? hmn…

Anyways, Rob’s Wax figure took four months and $220,000 to create and is now displayed alongside some of the famous names in Hollywood such as: Miley Cyrus, John Travolta, the Osbournes and Woody Allen. The real Rob’s trademark: “scruff and unkempt hair while wearing a casual outfit of black pants and a blazer-like dark gray jacket with a black button-up and white V-neck T-shirt underneath” are all maintain in his wax figure.

Rare 5.16-carat Blue-Diamond sold at Auction for US$6.4-million

Last Wednesday, a rare 5.16-carat blue-diamond was sold at auction in Hong Kong for US$6.4-million dollar! Whoa! That was a lot! ^_^

The flawless pear-shaped blue-diamond was once part of the legendary De Beers Millennium Collection. It is said that it was the first gem of its kind to appear in auction from the collection De Beers, (the world’s largest diamond producer).

Auctioneers Sotheby’s had priced the said diamond at between US$4.6-million and US$5.8-million and was sold in Hong Kong to London-based gem merchant named “Alisa Moussaieff” who paid more than the expected price.

She was quite satisfied with the price and said:

“It’s and individual thing and people have got to like it and people have got to see the value in it, but we do see the value and I hope our clients will see the value, as well.”

Her London-based boutique will change the gem’s mounting and offer the stone “to discerning clients, possibly in ‘ASIA’ ”, she said.

The De Beers Millennium Collection comprised 12 rare gems and took decades to assemble. Blue diamonds are among the rarest of all gems and owe their natural color to the presence of the chemical element “boron” during the stone’s formation.

The overall auction raised US$52.4-million, a figure Sotheby’s said was the highest total ever for a sale of this category. They say that the auction’s location probably helped. Because according to Sotheby’s, “Hong Kong has become the world’s third largest auction hub after New York and London, spurred by China’s growing wealth and increasing taste for fine art.”
