Chocolate Theme Park in China

Chocolate has become one of the most popular food types and flavors in the world. So, when people hear the word “CHOCOLATE” … most of them think that it’s just merely for eating (yumyum!). Well, it actually is! But some artists in Beijing China have created a very good alternative — it’ the “WORLD CHOCOLATE WONDERLAND DREAM PARK” which opened last 29th of January (Friday).

The said chocolate theme park was announced last year as a way of pleasing the increasing number of Chinese chocoholics and is inspired by the one featured in Road Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. It is located inside the Olympic Stadium in Beijing, China and is the first chocolate theme park in the country.

It features a number of China’s historical and cultural symbols including a 12-meter-long chocolate replica of the “Great Wall of China”, a traditional Chinese painting of “Panorama Along the Upper River” during the Qingming Festival (in original size), 560 terracotta soldiers of Emperor Qingshihuang which used a total of 80-tons of chocolate and a life-size replica of BMW car which consumed 3-tons of chocolate.

The 20,000-square-meter chocolate theme park consists of five temperature-controlled indoor halls such as:

  • World’s Chocolate Hall
  • World’s Candy Hall
  • Wonderland Theme Hall
  • Sweet Experience Hall
  • Sweet Gift Hall
… and two outdoor activity sites which includes:
  • Sweet Stage
  • Sweet Shopping Street

The exhibit that attracted most people was the building devoted to candy, which housed interactive games and displays that allows visitors to experience creating their own chocolates and of course have a taste of different sweet flavors from around the world. But the entrance fee costs a bit higher, though. It costs 80 Yuan ($12), which is expensive for an average Chinese.

According to reports, major sweet makers from Europe wanted in on the project hoping to break into potentially lucrative market, but there were no names revealed.

The organizer of the said “World Chocolate Wonderland Dream Park” hopes to attract one million visitors before it closes in April, when the weather will begin to get too warm which will makes the chocolates to melt.

But even if the said theme park will only lasts for a short period of time, NO WORRIES! Because it will reopen again January of next year with “ ALL NEW DISPLAYS”
