I don’t feel ashamed on doing that even in public areas like malls and the like. Because I was actually raised that way and it’s like my way of showing them my affection. ^_^

The Wolfman (2010)

Last Sunday, February 14 (Valentine’s day) … I decided to have a date with my parents in the mall (Market Market, Taguig) before meeting my akachan (boyfriend). We ate Double Chocolate Almond Ice Cream at DQ (Dairy Queen), roam inside the mall and then finally decided to watch a movie.
The movie I wanted to watch is “Dear John” and “Valentine’s Day”, my mother wanted to watch it, too. But my father doesn’t like it. What he like is an action movie, but since there was none. So, he decided that we just watch the horror/thriller “The Wolfman”.

Valentine's Day with my family

Most people think that the Valentine’s Day is merely just for lovers out there … but they’re definitely wrong with it. Because the “V-Day” is not just for one’s love partner (such as BF/GF/Hubby/Wife) but also for loved-ones — friends, brothers, sisters, granny, parents — in short, FAMILY.

Sunday, February 14, 2010

Valentine's Day History

MC Happiness (Kansho Tagai) -- the rapping, tap-dancing Japanese Buddhist monk

The Buddhist religion has largely remained the same over the past few centuries. But in Japan, the religious preferences of the Japanese have always been a bit complicated. Because most of the citizens there have both Buddhist and Shinto shrines in their homes. They typically attend Buddhist temples for funerals and at year’s end, Shinto temples to welcome the new year, and Christian churches to tie the knot in organ-accompanied ceremonies — all without a thought to the contradictions.

Chocolate Theme Park in China

Chocolate has become one of the most popular food types and flavors in the world. So, when people hear the word “CHOCOLATE” … most of them think that it’s just merely for eating (yumyum!). Hip-Hop Grannies in Beijing, China

As I went home from work early morning of this week, I was so amazed to see in Unang Hirit the so-called “Granny Hip-Hop Instructor” in Beijing China. To my amazement to the so-called “Hip-Hop Granny”, I decided to search it on the web and post it here in my blog. Hope you guys will be amazed, too. ^_^

Hip-Hop dance is a social or choreographed dance style primarily danced to a Hip-Hop music (a rhythmic, dynamic and usually fast type of music), which is commonly popular to teenagers. But who could have thought that this special form of dancing can also become a trend amongst senior citizens in Beijing China where a “Hip-Hop Grannies” were formed.

Since its foundation way back 2004, it has been its yearly routine to honor outstanding personalities whose lives and achievements have contributed to society in a positive way. This is done by giving a “People of the Year” award to those exemplary individuals. As for me, I think this is one way of saying “Sikat ang Pinoy”.

How You Can Help Haiti Earthquake Victims

Last Wednesday before heading to work, I was able to watch news on TV about the earthquake that hits Haiti and I was so saddened to see thousands of people died in the said disaster.

Haiti is considered to be the poorest in the Western Hemisphere with four out of five people living in poverty and more than half in abject poverty. There is concern that Haitian emergency services are unable to cope with a major disaster and the country is “economically vulnerable” by the Food and Agriculture Organization. Plus, it has been struck by multiple hurricanes which caused flooding and widespread damage in the country. Its long history of political and corruption has also added to the turmoil.

Feast of Black Nazarene (Quiapo, Manila)

The 9th of January is considered to be one of the most spectacular religious events in the Philippine history. Because it is during this day, Filipinos celebrates the Feast of the Black Nazarene --- a day-long event and long-held practice of Filipino Catholics.

The Black Nazarene is famously noted for its devotees who walk the procession streets barefooted as to imitate Jesus Christ on his way to Mount Cavalry. It is a life-size, dark-colored wooden sculpture of Jesus Christ carrying a cross which is said to be miraculous by many of its Filipino devotees. Its statue was brought here in Manila by a Spanish priest way back 1607 aboard a ship. The ship then caught fire, burning the image and thus came to be known as the “Black Nazarene”. Though its image has been burnt, people still decided not just to preserve it but to honor it, as well. And ever since then, miraculous things have been experienced by those who touch its image.
